A new way to see energy
The UPGRID project started at the beginning of 2015 under the H2020 program and was developed by a European consortium composed of 19 partners from 7 European countries: Spain, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom, France and Norway. In Portugal, EDP Distribuição, our client, was responsible for the installation of smart meters and demonstration of their usage in a real environment, focusing, among other things, on end-user engagement.
All the information used was collected for this specific purpose and it's only available for the clients.
Our goal was to build a digital platform where residential consumers could see detailed information about their energy consumption, information about their power usage peaks, simulate their bills with new tariffs and receive advice to optimise their consumption.
Knowledge is power
Smart meters allow the users and the provider to have more reliable information about energy consumption and power usage. Through the UPGRID project, more than 10k residential consumers in Lisbon will now be able to have detailed information about each KwH spent in their home.
With the client in mind, we received and prepared all the data to be displayed in a beautiful data visualisation dashboard where they can analyse all the historical information regarding consumptions and tariffs. The platform is not only available on the web but also through a mobile app developed with react native.
Ingrid - an energy chatbot
We also created a chatbot that will guide the user through the different concepts and graphics and deliver personalised information about energy usage.
Ingrid, an intelligent and interactive virtual assistant, will not only share small updates about consumption but also give suggestions to optimise the clients’ behaviour towards energy efficiency.
Using artificial intelligence, natural language processing and an attractive interface, this chatbot will enable seamless communication and information retrieval in a more natural and interactive way.
